IEEE Region 5 Director-Elect Position Statement
Donald G. Dunn

The IEEE is the preeminent Professional Society in the World with members representing most countries.  Within Region 5 we have many dedicated volunteers who spend countless time providing support to members.  Members are the lifeblood of the IEEE, yet too often our leadership pursues directives and forgets to ask a fundamental question: Does this add value to the members?

During my tenure within the Houston Section, IAS Board and EAB, I have made “adding value to membership” my central theme.  As your Region 5 Director that will be the driving force behind my goals and objectives.

I believe that building consensus is the only way to achieve common objectives and accomplish our goals.  I have been a committed IEEE volunteer for most of my twenty year membership.  This provides a unique perspective on the opportunities within the IEEE due to this experience within TAB, RAB, EAB and Standards.  Through this wide berth of experience I can represent you the member on the IEEE Board of Directors and ensure that we “add value to your membership”
